Analysing Music Magazine -Front Page

Analysing Music Magazine - Front Page

Cheryl Cole is on the front cover because she is a popular artist this attracts readers and encourages them to buy the magazine because she is a well known artist.

The way the artist is presented suggests the overall message she is trying to convey is women’s power and authority because of the bold colours she is wearing.

The central image on this magazine is an image of Cheryl Cole whose has been shot as a close up angle to show off her makeup which is quite dark; her lipstick is dark red and eye makeup is black and grey. The use of these dark colours connotes she is bold and fearless and makes her appear quite mysterious.  These colours implies to us reader Cheryl Cole has authority.

Cheryl Cole has on a direct mood address this may suggest she wants a relationship with the reader as she is looking directly to the readers and not away.

From analysing this front cover magazine I recognised this magazine is music magazine looking at the puffs which had names of music artists such ’50 Cent’ and ‘John Mayer’ also looking at the central image which is an image of Cheryl Cole who is well known music artist.

The slogan of the magazine convinces readers to buy the magazine that it is ‘The UK’s biggest music magazine’. The slogan convinces the buyers that this magazine is one of the best music magazines.

The use of dark colours already hints to the readers this magazine’s target audience is for an older audience.

Using a contemporary artist like Cheryl Cole as a centre image attracts a younger audience too. This encourages the younger generation to purchase the magazine. This gives the magazine a wider audience. In addition using a contemporary artist like Cheryl Cole attracts a younger audience too.

The letter Q is not a typical letter often used which implies to us this magazine is not a mainstream magazine but more of an exclusive magazine.

Q is the title of the magazine; Q is a music note. This title of the magazine immediately tells us as the readers it’s a magazine music. The font colour is white this contrasts with the red background with allows the title to stand out and grab the attention of the readers.
The anchorage text ‘Cheryl Cole rocks’ relates to the central image which implies to us readers Cheryl Cole could be changing her image to rock being as she is more of a pop star.

‘3 words’ is one of Cheryl Cole singles which her fans are familiar with and persuades them to the buy the magazine.
‘THE 10 BEST NEW ACTS’ is in capitals and in a bigger text than the other cover lines this done to make it more eye catching because it is a more central cover line than the others.

The word ‘New’ and ‘best’ are like a buzz words, these word encourages the audience to buy the magazine. These words on the magazine have a persuasive impact on the buyers.

The colour scheme consists of black, red and white. This is simple and easy to the eye. Adding to that suggests the colour scheme follows as well inside the magazine.
The colours scheme suggest this the music genre is rock because of the use of dark colours.

The grey circle outline figure on the front magazine emphases it is an important section seen as it differences from the shape outlines on the magazine.

The bar-code implies to us readers that the magazine is trendy as its issues number is larger than 1000 means it sells well.
